Final Freedom
“To the boy who sought freedom… goodbye.”
Attack on Titan quickly became one of the defining anime shows of the 2010s. When the manga ended in April 2021, I knew I wanted to create a piece to honor it.
The idea of freedom, represented by the vastness of the ocean and the flight of birds, was omnipresent in the whole show. However, I’ve depicted Eren, Mikasa and Armin after the time skip, as a representation of what I would envision as the last genuine moment of peace and joy, in the midst of chaos and pain, they enjoyed.
To all the characters from this world: thank you for breathing life into one of the most impactful stories ever told.
This piece was created using Sakura of Japan watercolors, Nicker Poster colours, Prismacolor colored pencils, Arteza gouache and Copic markers on Arches Cold Press paper.
